New Grass Cutting regime from Fingal County Council

Transition A areas

— 20% of public open space in 2010
— Remove any hay crop annually to reduce fertility of soil and allow colonisation by wildflowers
— Seed wildflowers to speed transition to meadows
— Plant bulbs at boundary between mown edge and meadow areas in year 1
— Plant tree groups where appropriate from year 1

Areas selected in Malahide

— Ard na mara green
— Millview lawns green
— Seapark hill green
— The seabanks grassed area at the beach
— Robswall
— Old yellow walls road (estuary end of seabury)
— Malahide Castle demesne
Remainder will be in Transition B

Transition B

— All open space except Transition A areas i.e. 80% of open space in year 1
— These areas will be mown monthly in 2010
— A holding position until taken into Transition A programme
